Jump Network’s 3G Wireless Broadband (also known as Mobile Broadband) is a revolutionary new product which facilitates Internet connectivity through existing mobile phone towers.
3G stands for Third Generation and has become the standard for new wireless mobile technologies. Capable of HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) using 900/2100MHz frequencies this service has maximum theoretical speeds of up to 3.6 Megabits per second.
In the future, this technology could see the end of traditional landline Internet products. The service is additionally suitable for customers who are unable to get ADSL or Cable broadband or wish to use the Internet without the need for a landline service (saving on line rental). Dialup customers could also benefit because of the cheap monthly rates and low usage options.
Currently, the maximum theoretical speed achievable on this service is 3.6 Megabits per second downstream and 384 Kilobits per second upstream. However customers are likely to receive speeds of between 512 Kilobits per second to 1.5 Megabits per second in ideal conditions. Speeds will vary significantly depending on congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software, and general internet traffic.
This technology is highly dependent on many factors which can impede on the maximum performance attained. Coverage is a primary factor; however signal strength, distance to the tower and computer configuration may also affect the maximum throughput.
Our wireless broadband network currently covers 96% of the Australian population. The coverage is constantly being upgraded and we have rollouts monthly which hope to cover 99% of Australia in the coming years.
Connection to your computer is via a USB (Universal Serial Bus) connector provided with one of our 3G Modems (also called a “Dongle”). Our 3G Modem is able to automatically select the best setting for connection based on the surrounding conditions.
Setup is also simple with the software stored on the Modem used to install the drivers on the computer (no need for CD’s or to download further drivers for initial setup). Once the 3G Modem has installed itself, your computer is configured and ready to surf the Internet.
There’s never been a better time to get wireless. The future of broadband has arrived.
